Wouter Bolangier (1964) started working with glass at the age of sixteen. Currently, his works are composed primarily of glass, stainless steel and rubber. They transport us to a world where things appear to be motionless, yet come to life once again in an enchanting way, suffused with infinite brilliance, reflections and a rich palette of colours. At the same time, you sense a tremendous brittleness. Every seemingly stable moment is illusionary.
‘Working with glass is always challenging. The material does not always respond as you would like, and the difficulties in controlling it make exploring its possibilities a highly and fascinating endeavour, without lapsing into a maniacal search for technical solutions.’ - Wouter Bolangier
